Two bills S934 the Child Nutrition Promotion and School Lunch Protection Act and HR 1324 (a similar bill) give the US Dept of Agriculture authority to establish nutrition standards for all foods sold in schools (not just the cafeteria per current law).

New in Review Hits the Web

The Journal of the American Dietetic Association’s New in Review section is moving online!  New in Review, a monthly Journal  of the American Dietetic Association feature bringing dietetics-related abstracts and citations from scientific and professional publications to ADA members, along with reviews of books and Web sites of interest to food and nutrition professionals, will make the jump to the Web in July 2009.  July will also mark the last appearance of New in Review in the print Journal, as it will now appear exclusively at www.eatright.org/newinreview

Neonatal Nutrition Training One Week Update Practicums

One-Week Neonatal Nutrition Update Programs will be offered for Registered Dietitians at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), Houston, Texas. This program will review the basics in the nutritional support of low birth weight and/or premature infants. Such topics as neonatal classification, breastfeeding, neonatal nutrient requirements, nutritional assessment, and dilemmas in enteral and parenteral nutrition for the premature infant will be emphasized.
