clinician to:

• Explore the underlying pathophysiology of obesity and related potential complications.
•  Explain specific effects that maternal nutrition may have on the health of the fetus.
• Identify nutritional support strategies for neonates at risk for less-than-optimal growth both in the hospital and after discharge.
•  List nutrients that are essential to fetal and neonatal brain development.
• Describe the epidemiology and diagnostic approaches to food allergies in infants and children.
• Assess the nutritional status of complex and critically ill pediatric patients, and identify the most appropriate nutritional sources for various clinical situations.
• State evidence-based safe feeding techniques for both neonatal and pediatric patients.
