Similac® Infant Formulas Voluntarily Recalled

To learn more - about this recall specifically http://abbott.vo.llnwd.net/o18/similac/recall/default.htm

Specific powder infant formulas from Similac® have been voluntarily recalled due to concerns of contamination. Powder formulas, packaged in plastic containers and cans, may contain a small common beetle in the product. According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the beetles pose no immediate health risk, although infants who consume contaminated formula may experience discomfort due to irritation of the GI tract and/or refuse to eat. Consult a physician if symptoms persist for more than a few days.

Similac® Brand infant formulas are produced by Abbott Nutrition. The recalled products were sold in the US, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Caribbean, and are limited to those produced in a single manufacturing facility. To determine if a purchased product is part of this recall, parents and caregivers can visit www.similac.com/recall/lookup, and search for the product's lot number (printed on the bottom of the container), or call the Abbott Consumer Hotline at 800/986-8850, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Consumers with recalled products will be provided details on how to return the product to Abbott at no charge.
