One Hurdle Cleared---Please Help with the Next--and Let us Know Your Experience! sticky icon

One Hurdle Cleared---Please Help with the Next The Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act was cleared through the House committee in the past week!  This is great news!  But legislative time is running out and this bill, which impacts our work and the families we work with, is at risk for being tabled until next legislative session and it needs to be passed now!  Your congressperson needs to hear your voice of encouragement to find funding sources and move this bill to the floor for a full vote before another legislative session passes. If they don't hear from  you, how will they know how important this is to the services that are offered to our families and our jobs??  WE are the nutrition experts--they need to hear from us that this is a valuable piece of legislation!  Try the ADA's grassroots manager--it will take no longer then 5 minutes and have a great impact. Did You make the call yet??

 The call...

Did you make the call yet??  It will take less than 5 minutes!

Why call?    For the kids and families we work with every day!!  As well as our own professional growth.

Who to call?  Your Congressman---He or she is about to make some very important decisions regarding nutrition--has your voice been heard yet? You can contact your Congressman's office by calling the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

 CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATOR!!!

We often feel compelled to contact our legislator when we notice that our legislator may not be supporting our views. However, it is just an important to contact them to let them know that they are supporting your views. Your legislator is working on your behalf and part of their role is to express the views of their constituents to congress.

So, it is often just as important to contact them and say "thank you"

for supporting...... as it is when there is an issue.

A Change is Going to Come - Public Policy

On January 20, 2009 a new administration will begin and policy will change. Barack Obama and Joe Biden will put forth their plans to jump-start our economy by implementing programs that will affect all of us. An important issue for the new administration is lowering health care costs and ensuring affordable, accessible health coverage for all. This will have an impact on our profession and we as the “experts” in nutrition have an opportunity to provide our expertise on such issues as food safety, child nutrition, nutrition labeling and health care reform.
