1Highlights of PNPG sponsored session at the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo: “Guarding Our Children’s Healthy Future: Nipping Obesity in the Bud”
Deb Hutsler, MS, RD/LD
Robin Hamre, MPH, RD is the team lead at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for Nutrition and Physical Activity Programs to Prevent Obesity and Other Chronic Diseases. 1Chair's Corner
Deb Hutsler, MS, RD/LD
This year’s Food and Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE) was spectacular as we were surrounded by the tropical splendor and island culture of Honolulu, Hawaii. But the beautiful surroundings could only complement the many networking opportunities, educational sessions and recognition of our outstanding members.
2Dietetic Practice Group Challenge
Aida Miles
Many of you might have participated in the Affiliate Challenge that the American Dietetic Association (ADA) held last spring. In this challenge all the different state associations (“affiliates”) competed against each other to recruit new members. Now it is OUR turn to recruit members. ADA is having a Dietetic Practice Group (DPG) challenge, and PNPG is competing against other DPGs to recruit more members. We want YOUR help to accomplish this!

3Pediatric Multivitamin and Mineral Supplements
Margaret Begany, RD, CSP, LDN
In an ever-expanding world of pediatric multivitamin and mineral supplements, a table can be a useful reference and comparison tool. The most current composition of a variety of vitamin formulations was obtained either directly from the manufacturer, the product label, or the manufacturer’s website. Information is current as of November 2006.

6Public Policy Report Pediatric Nutrition: Issues in Perspective
Donna Skoda, MS, RD, LD
As we move into a new year, I would like to remind everyone of our social responsibility, as a practice group, to advocate for the nutritional health of infants, children and adolescents. Various issues throughout the year have focused on pediatric nutrition health, including the adoption of local school wellness policies, reauthorization of the Farm Bill, revision of WIC food packages, and the Ryan White CARE Act. Through the advocacy and involvement of members, appropriate guidance has been given to these legislative priorities. So, let’s take a look at the issues in question.
7SSU Update
Amy Brandes, RD, LD, CNSD, CLC, Susan Casey, BS, RD, CD
The SSUs have some exciting news. As of November 1, 2006, the listserves will be changing to web forums. For every SSU you belong to, you can now participate in conversations with other members of the SSU on the web forums. You will be able to search these forums (you can’t do that on list serves) and will be able to ask SSU members questions to your most challenging issues.

aiSELECTED CHILDREN’S VITAMIN AND MINERAL SUPPLEMENTS
Meg Begany
The following reference tables are not a complete listing of all children’s vitamin and mineral supplements available on the market, but include many commonly used brands. Other children’s products also exist. The table is provided as a companion to the PNPG Post 2007/Vol 17/Winter Issue. The use of these products is not endorsed by the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group or the American Dietetic Association.
