The Executive Summary of the “Expert Committee Recommendations on the Assessment, Prevention, and Treatment of Child and Adolescent Overweight and Obesity” was published on June 6, 2007 (1). The Expert Committee (EC) recommended 1) appropriately measured assessments to guide physicians and healthcare providers, 2) treatment protocols, and 3) prevention strategies. This article outlines the association’s recommendations using these three categories.

Schanler, MD, and our own Kristina R. Elsaesser, MS, RD, CSP. The session was moderated by our Past Chair and current Advisor Diane Anderson, PhD, RD, FADA, CSP.
