The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to describe ways that appropriate nutrition services can improve pregnancy outcomes, describe the effect of maternal eating behaviors on birth outcomes and infant health status and development, and identify characteristics of model programs and counseling approaches for maternal and infant nutritional health.

Who Should Attend

This continuing education program is designed for dietitians, nutritionists, certified nurse midwives, registered nurses and nurse practitioners, physicians, and public health professionals who serve preconceptual, pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women.


This activity (CPE Activity 134014) has been approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration for 15.0 CPEs for the in-person and online program.

The University of Minnesota College of Continuing Education awards up to 1.5 Continuing Education Units (CEU). One CEU is defined as 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable leadership, and qualified instruction.
