The 1,000 days between a woman’s pregnancy and her child’s second birthday offer a brief but critical window of opportunity to shape a child’s development. It is a time of both tremendous potential and enormous vulnerability. How well or how poorly a child is nourished during his first 1,000 days can mean the difference between a thriving future and one characterized by struggle. Unfortunately, too few women and children in the U.S. get the nutrition they need to thrive. During this webinar we will explore the realities facing moms and babies in the U.S., the barriers they face in achieving a healthy first 1,000 days, and the opportunities to improve maternal and child health through changes to policy and practice – as well as public awareness.
