Speaker Bio

Ms. Carney has worked as a pediatric dietitian for 20 years, 15 of which has been at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is a Certified Specialist in Pediatrics. She is an active member of the Academy’s Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group, holding numerous leadership positions over the past decade. 

Ms. Carney is on the forefront of the movement to utilizing a unifying definition for pediatric malnutrition. She was an author on the Consensus Statement of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition: Indicators Recommended for the Identification and Documentation of Pediatric Malnutrition (Undernutrition), as well as the 2013 article Defining pediatric malnutrition: a paradigm shift toward etiology-related definitions.

Ms. Carney currently serves on the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group’s malnutrition committee, which is working on several national level projects. As part of this work, she is an author on a pending publication reviewing a survey of pediatric dietitians about their use of the pediatric malnutrition indicators. 

Ms. Carney was also an author on the 2015 Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance for Registered Dietitians in Pediatric Nutrition.
